Slow adventure

Blessed here the catfish and golden fish, not the hardworking Denmark cows and the Asian elephants. I pity!

The cow moves us from the site to the village; the elephant moves us from the river to the forest track.

Slow adventure in Chiang Rai includes hot spring, elephant camp, safari, bamboo rafting, orchid garden and butterfly, but I do not think elephant riding and ox-cart riding are necessary.

Ox-cart riding and cars collide. It becomes a traffic jam.

In the old days, the ox cart was used to carry stuff and elephant was used to move the trunk. Now the elephant must work to get feed while the wild one is sent away to zoo to be taken care of as there is not enough food to survive now. The elephant eats around 200 tons a day. It has four stomachs and fruits consumed shall be excreted after 1 hour. The poo is not smelly and could be used to make paper and frames.

In the afternoon, the elephant shall be fed and showered. Kid could ride directly on the elephant for short time, which is called elephant care.

We went to the Chang village to visit the long necked woman. Their face feature is different to Chinese with long eyes and high nose. The woman who was having snack invited me to taste the green mango dipped in salt and chili.

They are from Burma and is supported by Thailand government to stay here without ID card. The story of long neck comes from the tiger age. Woman is protected from tiger bite by wearing gold rings some of it weighs 5 kg of which every 5 years a ring was added.

They wear it when they swim but they can take it off without an issue as the extended was not the long neck but the weight of the gold weighs the shoulder down.

Today even a tiger can not survive easily in the wild and it shall be in the zoo.

How about a buttery farm? An orchid farm?

Butterfly farm

Farm means the butterflies were fenced up, the orchid are grown in the air all in one place and shaded from sunburn. Thailand orchids all in all!

The bamboo rafting is my favorite activities, soothing with view of forest, banks, and the calming water sounds. The whole trip feels alike medication in the nature. Terrace, fruit free plantations, huts and swing bridge over head gives you a rural and eco tourism feeling.

The whole river runs from Burma to Bangkok for 1000km. We are 250 km away from the border of Burma. The river is shallow, peaceful with some parts of rush water in turn-away.

we had a 4 km river rafting without any crowds and noises after all. It is blessing!
