Gulou and Yongfeng warehouse heritage park

Ningbo, the old harbour city in the east of China.

Gulou is a place in the middle of city for shopping in the old days.

Next to this gate, it is the Yongfeng warehouse heritage park.

Next to Gulou, we can find a timer machine in the old days.

The machine works on the water runs down every 14.24 minutes and the bell sounds 8 times automatically.

On the street of Gulou, there are lots of old restaurants, such could be as old as established on 1806. You can see a few crowds at several popular snack shops.

The most popular snack is called Youzhanzi, a kind of fried flour in a shape of rope, with savvy flavors of seaweed and the sweet sesame flavor type as well.

There are now two well known shops for selling this type of snack in Gulou now. One is called “矮粗”, another is “Nantang 南塘”. The first brand is more popular for now while the later one is really old brand, famous from main shop on the Nantang Old Village Street.

Inside and outside of Gulou, you can find lots of places to go. This time I chose to go to the Moon Lake, we will see in the next blog.
